All Time Low Frontman Responds To Fan’s Suspension Over Band Photo

September 20, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson 6 Comments

Alex Gaskarth, frontman for All Time Low has responded to a recent report that a fan in the band’s home state of Maryland was given a three day suspension from her middle school for displaying this photo on her  binder.

“Personally, I’m a little upset that anyone would find that picture to be ‘offensive.’ We tried our very hardest to look as sexy as possible and I think that maybe the administrative figures responsible for suspending the student were just jealous of our dashing, young physiques. I don’t see any harm in carrying that particular picture around in a school environment. In fact, I’ve been speculating that studies may prove that the picture actually stimulates brain activity, and promotes greater levels of success in the classroom. But that’s just one theory…”

All Time Low’s So Wrong It’s Right will be released Tuesday, September 25 on Hopeless Records. Catch All Time Low on tour with Boys Like Girls starting September 29th.

I’ve been listening to way too much lately. Stuff sticking out on the un-signed front comes from The Real You(think Acceptance meets Ivory) and The Thief. And if you’re into electronic-ish stuff, Murfreesboro, TN’s Mr. Satisfaction has totally been rocking my world. Best party music ever. Awesome live show, too. New Archie Star and All Time Low songs are up and amazing, too.

Pop punk, pop rock… whatever you want to call has been a big part of my life ever since Blink 182 broke it to me a decade ago. This year has been filled with a lot of pop rock releases and there is still more to come. This week is the release of Barley Blind‘s new EP, The Way We Operate. This is a great EP for fans of the genre.

How many of you were disappointed with Cartel‘s sophomore album? I found it rather a disappointment with only a few catchy songs like “Lose It”, “The Fortunate”, and “Tonight.” Other then that the album seriously put me to sleep, something I didn’t expect from a band who’s EP and first album I loved and promoted to everyone. There has been several bands in the past that I believe that this site has helped break to the mainstream and that has been Cartel and Boys Like Girls. With Cartel’s self-titled album coming in as a disappointment for me, I’m still not sure weather to blame “The Bubble” or just call it off as a sophomore slump. In the wake of this Cartel void there is a need of a great new band that we can promote here at DFO that hasn’t yet hit the radars of anyone else. Today I would like to tell you about We The Kings. The band hails from Florida and they bring a sound that I can literally say consists of a van crash between Cartel and Boys Like Girls. Crazy right? Well it happened and We The Kings will be on everyones radar in the near future but I wanted you all to know about them now before your friends do. If you have ever wondered what we really do here at Driven Far Off this is what we do, we tell you about upcoming bands before anyone else. Enjoy!

It’s been incredibly long since I’ve shown face here, let alone had time to show face here, but before I head back to Washington, here’s a quick pop-rock rec for everyone.  From the great country that brought you Sick Puppies, Parkway Drive, and The Veronicas(!) as well as Vegemite comes Aussie’s new rock sensation The Mission In Motion.  Their EP The Window debuted about 5 months ago, but its tracks have had a considerable staying power on my playlist over the past few weeks. With great riffs, high energy deliveries, fetching lyrics, and a breed of polished cohesiveness that’s rare in a young band, The Mission In Motion are certainly living up to their moniker.  Check out “The Window” and “Don’t You Just Love Theater” to hear TMIM at their best.

All Time Low Drop Off The Audition Tour

March 31, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

All Time Low has dropped off their upcoming tour with The Audition due to a family illness. Check out the bands message below.

Message from Jack

Hey guys,
Jack here writing on a serious note, for the first and hopefully only time ever. I just wanted to let everyone know what’s going on in the All Time Low camp. We were scheduled to head out on the road with our boys in The Audition. We were more than overwhelmingly excited to be going out with a sick tour, but we were more excited that we’d be going out with some great friends. But sometimes things come up unexpectedly and you really have to take a step back and take a look at the big picture. Last year, my grandpa passed away and it was a really difficult time for my family and me. I’m finding myself in the same scenario once again with my other grandpa, at 104, who’s health is declining rapidly. Due to my obligations with touring, recording, and just being in a band, my immediate family has been waiting on me to go visit him Overseas and basically the only time frame we could would be in June. With past experiences with losing family members, you really have to make priorities in life and family will always come first. Believe me, there’s nothing I love more than to tour, but I really feel like I need to be with my family for that time. I’m away for most of the year and my family asks very little from me, and this is one thing I really feel I need to come through with. I just want to be the one to tell everyone how sorry we are about having to bail on this amazing tour. We want to send our apologies first and for most to all the kids that planned on seeing us at the shows. We urge everyone to still go out to the shows and support the bands because they are amazing. I have posted the dates below, so if the show is coming remotely near you, we suggest you hit it up. We also want to send an apology to the Audition, their management and booking agent, for giving us the opportunity and us having to leave it under these circumstances. We hope that everyone understands why I have come to this decision. We’ll try to come up with something to make it up to all of you, so please keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Thanks for reading and understanding.
Jack Barakat
