Staff Recommendations January 7th 2007
Bryce Jacobson
Its still that time of year where new releases are scarce but thats doesn’t mean its time to sit around and wait.
Music – Check out Anberlin’s new single as well as a new non-album track on iTunes.
Games – If your not playing Gears of War then you are missing out.
Geekness – Apple will be having their annual Macworld conference this week with a Keynote address from Steve Jobs on Tuesday. Will we see an Apple branded cell phone and other gadget goodies? Just check Apple’s website Tuesday afternoon for all the their new goods.
Podcasts – This week is a good week for Podcasts, check out Diggnation, MacBreak MacBreak Weekly and TWiT who will all be at MacWorld covering the event. And check out DL.TV for some great coverage on CES.

I’m going to comment on and critique Bryce’s recommendations, because well, thats what I feel like doing.
Music: I too like Anberlin’s new track but I have a feeling that the rest of the album will be better than “Godspeed” although like I said I do really like it.
Games: Contrary to gears of war, I recommend everyone go out and buy a Nintendo Wii. I recently got one and it’s everything it should be.
we’ll call this Technology not geekness: With CES and Macworld the same week, I think theres bound to be alot of new products announced. However I don’t think we will see the oh so rumored about “iPhone”.

Music – Foreign-language pop-rock anyone?ԚÂ Check out Juli’s (German) latest album Ein neuer Tag – from what I’ve heard of it so far, the lead singer sounds a whole lot less like Alannis Morissette than she did on the past album.ԚÂ C’mon their band name is a month and their music is full of time markers – you gotta love ’em, haha! If you want more German goodness, be sure to take a listen to Silbermond.ԚÂ I played a song for my best friend (a rude girl) and her boyfriend (who listens to nearly everything covered on this site – Anberlin, Underoath, etc) and they both loved it.ԚÂ He loved it enough to go see a concert of theirs in Austria (well, he was already in Austria; it wasn’t a special transatlantic trip!)ԚÂ For Spanish lovers, simple old El Sueño de Morfeo is great as well as El Canto del Loco.ԚÂ If you want something more eclectic try Ojos de Brujo.
Games – I just got back from Europe a few days ago and I tried the Wii my first night back.ԚÂ It was pretty nice, so I’ll recommend it as well.
