Jimmy Eat World Tour Update

June 14, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Jimmy Eat World has posted an update about their upcoming tour. Check their tour page for the latest dates.

hey everyone, thanks for the interest in the upcoming dates. we can’t wait to get out there and play some proper, headlining shows for you guys. there are a few questions as to what these upcoming dates will be like and I’d like to clarify a little bit so everyone knows what’s up. these summer U.S. dates are going to be different than the shows we’ve played in the past. these shows will include mostly acoustic and mellow material from our past 5 albums and also some rarities. the material won’t be exclusively acoustic, but it also won’t be full on rock. we wanted to do a short run in the U.S. that gives us a chance to play some songs we’ve never played and also take a more musical approach to the songs we’ve just normally blasted rock style. we will also be playing a few selections from our upcoming release, “Chase This Light”.

Article #21 – Mid Year Review

June 3, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson 5 Comments

Has 2007 proven to be better then last year? That is the question and we are looking for an answer, but a full year in review will have to wait another 6 months. The second half of the year looks promising with releasing from Paramore, The Rocket Summer, Motion City Soundtrack, Jimmy Eat World and more coming in the next few months. But what has the first half of the year done for our endless music craving? Releases from Anberlin, Relient K, Sherwood, Fall Out Boy and more hit shelves with lots of fanfare, but did they live up to the hype? This year is also filled with lots of sophomore albums from bands like Sullivan, The Fold, Paramore, My American Heart, Circa Survive and many more. Did these releases fall into the sophomore slump or are they destine for greatness.

Each year there is always one stand out band that comes out of nowhere to please our ears. So far this year The Graduate has done that for me. Their Cartel style rock rings out on their debut album, Anhedonia. With 6 months left in the year they could be beat, although the challenger would have to put up a pretty good fight.

This was just a brief review that covers just a few of the releases that have come out this year. This year is shaping up to be a pretty good year for new music. Now it’s your turn to let us know which releases you have dug so far this year and which releases didn’t meet your expectations. Also let us know which releases you think will dominate the second half of 2007.

Jimmy Eat World Finish New Album

May 29, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Jimmy Eat World have wrapped up the recording and mixing of their new album. You can read a message from the band below.

done. i declare our album recorded. next up mixing. we have spent the last few days in LA tweaking on some 11th hour changes to the album. some whip-cracks, explosions, bells, glocks and the occasional reverse cymbal. wouldn’t be cliche if it didn’t work, right? seriously. i feel great about this. at this point in the record making process i always get this deep feeling of excitement. as if i am the only one who knows a cool secret. i can’t wait to show you guys what we have been doing for the last year. we have learned a lot making this album and hopefully, we will not take so long between records again.

we need some b-sides… anyone have a good suggestion for a cover song? post on our message board!

Jimmy Eat World Recording Update

May 17, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Jimmy Eat World has set May 28th as a mix date for their sixth studio album. A full update from the band can be read below.

We have a mix date set for may 28th. yes, there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. we just spent a week in los angeles tweaking out a few songs and stalking tony from sparta (we know what starbucks you go to now, homz). we re-cut drums and bass for a song called “here it goes” with producer, John Fields. we will be working on art and getting all our new stage costumes together soon. how does human size banana suits sound? people would definitely ask us less questions about emo then.

Staff Recommendations October 15th 2006

Trevor Bivens

Jimmy Eat World – Bleed American

For the longest time, I thought I had lost this album. Well, I found it this weekend, and I got to experience the awesomeness all over again. This disc is packed full of gems and everyone should be able to appreciate the sweetness(ahaha I kill myself sometimes) that is Jimmy Eat World.

Mike Duncan

Third Eye Blind – A Collection

E-Card

Tyler Hayes – Mxpx

Probably the band to blame for me getting into music in general (pun intended). I’m excited about their new b-side album, as you should be too!

Myspace

Michael Schneider

Between The Trees

Seeing this band yesterday at Bamboozle and hearing their new record, there’s not one band out there right now that’s more set to hit it big. If you’re a fan of Melee, Copeland, or the Fray, check these guys out, they kind of do a little bit of it all.

Valida Prentice

The Svengalis

Greetings from England!Ԛ  I was in London this past weekend and two guys in a bagel shop invited me to see their band play across the street.Ԛ  So this is a twofold recommendation, first clearly I recommend the Svengalis, a cute little unsigned English indie band.Ԛ  Further, I recommend that you go out to a local venue and check out a local show (with bands you haven’t previously listened to) and see if you find a new gem somewhere other than PureVolume/Myspace.

July 24, 2006 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Jimmy Eat World are set to enter the studio on August 7th to begin work on their 6th full length. The band said this in an article on MTV.com.

We are scheduled to begin recording our new record on August 7th at our own studio in Tempe,” Jimmy Eat World frontman Jim Adkins wrote in a post on the band’s official site. “We will be working alongside Chris Testa as our engineer, and the legendary Butch Vig will also be alongside the band making sure we don’t forget to thrash unreal!! (We are pretty sure that’s Wisconsin slang for ‘kicking serious ass’).
