Damiera Slef-Producing New Album

February 22, 2008 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Damiera are slef-producing their new album, Quiet Mouth, Loud Hands, that is set for release this summer. You can read more about it below.

For the last four months, Damiera have been locked in their rehearsal space in Niagara Falls, NY writing and recording Quiet Mouth, Loud Hands, the follow-up to their 2007 debut, M(US)IC.

Interestingly enough, Damiera’s new bassist, Jayson DeZuzio is a seasoned producer who manned the boards for Coheed & Cambria’s The Second Stage Turbine Blade, early My Chemical Romance recordings, and Damiera’s debut release, M(US)IC, before he permanently joined the band in June of 2007.

“Jayson and I spent the first month making and trashing ideas” says Raymond. “Rehearsal as a group brought about eight songs to completion during the month of December.”

But creating the album hasn’t been without it’s share of problems.

“We lost about three weeks when the roof leaked on our console and it had to be sent out for repair,” reveals Raymond.

Damiera’s recording process is being documented on their new official website. The site launched last week with a complete 36-photo set from friend and photographer Robert J. Whitney.

“It’s a day and night process,” says Raymond, “sleep when you need to.”

Damiera Return With New Lineup

June 13, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

After a brief two-month hiatus, Damiera have returned to writing and performing music with a brand new lineup.

Back in April, three fourths of Damiera left the band to pursue other goals. The departing members were “seeking satisfaction elsewhere,” says continuing member and vocalist Dave Raymond, “they wanted to take another road for now… without having to be committed to a group setting.”

The new members consist of guitarist Steve Downs and drummer Josh Sparks, formerly of the Iowa-based band Spirit of the Stairway, and Jayson Dezuzio, a long time professional producer whose resume includes work with Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, and more. Dezuzio also produced the latest Damiera album, M(US)IC, which was released in January.

“I love music, and I will continue to let go of every excess (money, home, health, etc) in order to find my end in it,” states Raymond, “I have been extremely fortunate this far, but I’d rather end with nothing and satisfied than end with everything and not use it.”

Damiera will pick up where they left off, fire up the van, and begin touring with the new lineup in August.

Damiera – M(us)ic

February 22, 2007 By Tyler Hayes 1 Comment

Dameria m(us)ic

Artist: Damiera
Album: M(us)ic
Label: Equal Vision
Purchase: Smart Punk
Release Date: January 23rd, 2007

Overall: 7.5
Music: 7.9
Lyrics: 8.0
Production: 7.9

I rewrote this review over and over again about 4 times, each time feeling just as boring and dumb as the last. I don’t know if it’s the album or I just have writers block for this band. I’m going to try something different, making this review very short and to the point.

M(us)ic is a very good album. It’s subtly catchy, its technical, but most of all it shows the potential of this band. I think Equal Vision wanted to cash in on this band’s already good album (by re releasing it) without paying for a new studio album yet. Smart move on their part, I just can’t wait to hear the next album from these guys because I think the way â┚¬Ã…”Over Itâ┚¬? progressed from a very punk band into pop punk I think Damiera will become more accessible and people will really be able to get into them.

Vocals are awesome, and music great, my only thing is that the album can get repetitive at times but that, in my opinion, wonâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢t deter most people.

Tracklisting
1. Immure
2. Lessons
3. M(US)IC
4. Via Invested
5. I AM Pulse
6. Ember Eason
7. Departures
8. Flora: Yield
9. Broken Hands
10. Obsessions
