Thrice Leaves Label

June 25, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Thrice has decided to leave Island Records. You can read a full update from the band below.

Hi Everyone,

We just wanted to let you all know that we’ve decided to part ways with Island Records. Over the past couple of years, we’ve realized that we have different visions for the band’s future and we both agree that we’d be better off going our separate ways at this point. We’re very grateful for all the help and support they’ve given us for the past four years. Thankfully, they’ve been generous enough to let us keep the record we’re currently recording, and we’re hopeful that this change in plans won’t delay its release. We’re currently in the process of finding a new home, and will let you all know once we do so.

As with every twist and turn of our careers, we made this decision based on trust and belief: belief in what we’re creating and our future, and trust in each other and you all as fans.

We’re excited to finish this album, get it out later this year, go on tour this fall with one of our favorite bands, and for everything our future holds.

Thank you all for your love and support, it means the world to us.

Love,
Dustin, Riley, Teppei, and Ed

Thrice Update

March 6, 2007 By Jamie Pham Leave a Comment

Thrice have updated the Alchemy Index.

Weâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢re on our way back home. This entire trip has been amazing. The shows were awesome. Iâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ve missed playing live so muchâ┚¬Ã‚¦ itâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s been way too long. We are all sunburnt and exhausted from the last few days spent in Perth. Teppei and I were talking about how the heat felt like when you stick your hand in an oven to when cooking food. One of the guys helping us out on the tour named â┚¬Ã…”Squasherâ┚¬? (big burly duder), told us that they say the ozone layer has a hole in it above Perth. I wouldnâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢t doubt it. I was wearing 30spf sunscreen and I got absolutely friedâ┚¬Ã‚¦ and fast! Hopefully this exhaustion will help us sleep on the long flight homeâ┚¬Ã‚¦ Blech! Something like 26 hours of travel time with this layover. Although this trip has been amazing, I canâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢t wait to get home and finish these records. Thank you to everyone who made it out to the shows and everyone who helped us along the way. Australia we love you and hope to be back soon.

Edward

New Thrice Update

Teppei (Thrice) have updated the Alchemy Index.

weâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ve been splitting the last couple days up into recording and rehearsing for our upcoming australia tour. thanks to all you aussieâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s who wrote in with your requests. weâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ve looked over them all and have been trying out some of the requested songs. on the recording end, we started tracking what will be the sonnet for the fire disc. itâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s based off a string arrangement i made on reason that basically repeats one movement and keeps getting bigger. should turn out pretty coolâ┚¬Ã‚¦weâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ll see. weâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢re kinda making this one as we go.

love, teppei

playlist:
joanna newsom – yâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s
rufus wainwright – want two
the microphones – the glow pt.2

Dustin Kensrue – Please Come Home

January 18, 2007 By Michael Schneider 3 Comments

Dustin Kensrue Please Come Home

Artist: Dustin Kensrue
Album: Please Come Home
Label: Equal Vision
Purchase: MerchNow
Release Date: January 23, 2007

Overall: 9.1
Music: 8.8
Lyrics: 9.5
Production: 9.0

Dustin Kensrue, mastermind and frontman of alternative rockers Thrice, has been embarking on many new endeavors recently. Between the birth of his first child, his position on the board of To Write Love On Her Arms, writing and recording a new record with Thrice, and playing countless solo shows, Dustin’s solo album may be subconsciously titled as a request of himself. Regardless, this eight song debut contains the passion and the power he exudes in Thrice, but in a stripped down, soft-serve setting.

Reminiscent of Johnny Cash meets Bruce Springstein mixed in with the expected honesty of Dustin’s writing, don’t think you’re getting an acoustic version of Thrice. This album is far removed from their sound. The country and blues tone is not normally something I take to, but for some reason, Dustin does it differently.

The songs are not groundbreaking, life changing, or perfect, but they’re easy to identify with, sing a long to, and love as though they were written for you. I strongly recommend this album, it just may be your gateway into a genre ignored by a lot of modern rock fans, and embraced by this modern rock icon.

Track Listing
1. I Knew You Before
2. Pistol
3. I Believe
4. Please Come Home
5. Blood & Wine
6. Consider The Ravens
7. Weary Saints
8. Blanket Of Ghosts

Head on over to Thrice‘s MySpace to hear a 2003 cover of John Lennon’s “Happy Christmas (War is Over)”.

Also, due to the amount of requests they’ve added two older songs, “Deadbolt” and “The Artist in the Ambulance”, for the duration of the Christmas season.

There’s a new studio update from Teppei and some new pictures up on www.alchemyindex.com.

And last, they’ve added a bunch of new merch to their webstore.
