Modern Life Is War Signs With Equal Vision Records

February 9, 2007 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Iowa-based melodic hardcore/punk band, Modern Life Is War have signed with Equal Vision Records.

“We chose to sign with Equal Vision for a couple reasons,” explains vocalist Jeffrey Eaton. “Number One, because they can give us the support we need to keep touring year round. And number two, because the label is driven by music and not trends, images and marketing schemes like so many other prominent record labels.”

Modern Life Is War are currently at home writing the follow-up to their 2005 album, Witness, but will be taking a break in February to preview some new songs on the road with Ambitions and The Geeks. Following the tour, Modern Life Is War has studio time booked with legendary indie/punk producer J. Robbins (Against Me!, Texas Is The Reason, Jets To Brazil) to lay down tracks for the upcoming album, which will also be available on vinyl through Lifeline Records.

Equal Vision Signs…

November 1, 2006 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Olympia has signed with Hope Division Records, an imprint label of Equal Vision.

“From our very first conversation with Hope Division,” said vocalist Phil Williams, “we recognized that we wanted the exact same things and it just grew from there.”

Olympia consists of drummer Shane Johnson and guitarist Peter Tsouras (ex-members of Equal Vision alumni Fairweather), along with bassist Nick Barkley and former Brand New Disaster vocalist, Phil Williams.

Olympia completed their debut album last month in Boston, MA with producer Matthew Ellard (Radiohead, Queen, Weezer). “He understood the big picture of our record,” Williams said, “I think he knew the kind of sound we were looking for.” The album, entitled “Emergencies” is slated for a February 2007 release.

Download an MP3 of “Olympia Is A Motherfucker” from the upcoming album at the band MySpace page.

Look for Olympia to perform sporadically for the rest of the year, including shows with A Static Lullaby, Chiodos, and He Is Legend, then a full U.S. tour in support of “Emergencies” to follow in 2007.

OLYMPIA TOUR DATES:

10/31 – Philadelphia, PA @ First Unitarian Church
11/10 – Harrisonburg, VA @ Captain Tee’s

Equal Vision To Release Coheed and Cambria Side Project

September 25, 2006 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Claudio Sanchez, front man and visionary of prog rockers Coheed and Cambria, has completed his first solo album under the name The Prize Fighter Inferno.

The 12-song album, entitled My Brother’s Blood Machine, will be released this Halloween (Tuesday, October 31st) on upstate New York indie label Equal Vision Records. Original home to Coheed and Cambria albums “The Second Stage Turbine Blade” (2002), and “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3” (2003), Equal Vision entered into a partnership with major label Columbia Records to release Coheed and Cambria’s epic third full-length album, “Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV: Volume I: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness” in the fall of 2005. In total, Coheed and Cambria have sold well over 1 million albums in their five year career.

My Brother’s Blood Machine further develops and expands the concepts established in the Coheed and Cambria albums with such recurring themes as the McCloud Family and references to its missing children.Ԛ  The primary difference is that this album is being told from the point of view of a character known as “The Prize Fighter Inferno” a.k.a. Jesse from the story of Coheed and Cambria.

The Prize Fighter Inferno – “My Brother’s Blood Machine” Track List:

1 – The Going Price for Home
2 – The Fight of Moses Early & Sir Arthur McCloud
3 – Our Darling Daughter You Are, Little Cecilia Marie
4 – A Death in the Family
5 – The Margretville Dance
6 – Accidents
7 – Run, Gunner Recall, Run! The Town Wants You Dead!
