My Favorite Highway Announce Breakup

September 2, 2010 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

My Favorite Highway have announced their breakup in a blog post on their MySpace page. The announcement from the band can be read below.

It was almost six years ago that Will and I started the band that has now become My Favorite Highway. It completely blows me away that we have been a band for that long. The past six years have been an amazing journey for everyone that has been a part of the My Favorite Highway family. We have had the pleasure of meeting so many inspiring people over the years, including our incredible fans and the bands we’ve toured with, who we are proud to call our friends. There are countless memories we have shared with each and every one of you that we will never forget. I feel that when artists release a statement that they’re disbanding they tend to sound as if they’re writing an obituary, well we’re not going to do that. Pat, Will and myself have been doing a little bit of soul searching this year and we all mutually agree that the My Favorite Highway chapter of our lives is coming to a close. This band has been the most important part of who we are for over half a decade, but we all feel that the time has come for us to move on. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has ever believed in us and supported My Favorite Highway. A band is not the members performing on the stage, it’s a story, and everyone who has ever sung a line from one of our songs is a part of this story and is a part of this band. People come and go, stories last forever. We will be playing our final farewell shows in our hometown, Vienna, Virginia, in December. These will be our last performances under the banner of My Favorite Highway. We will also be releasing a live acoustic record of some of the performances from our Storytellers Tour very shortly. As for the three of us, we will continue to make music together and we are very excited for what the future holds. Thank you all for being a part of our story.

Owl City Release New Song; Distribution Service

September 1, 2010 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Owl City has released a new song titled “To The Sky” which is from the upcoming Warner Brothers animated feature film “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole ,” in theaters September 24.

Working in film has always been an irrational dream of mine and since having had the opportunity to do something like this, I am utterly bereft of speech.

The film is directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), animated by Animal Logic (creators of Happy Feat) – and features “To The Sky” as its title track. The song has been made available for download on iTunes here . The soundtrack will be available everywhere digitally and exclusively at Borders physically on September 21.

Owl City has also announced a distribution deal in partner with TuneCore, the largest independent digital distributor, to help you share your music with the world. For a limited time, fans choosing to distribute through Owl City Distribution will be eligible to take part in a special promotion. Adam Young will choose his favorite release from all submissions and write a critique of that album. Submissions must be received by December 1, 2010 so hurry on over to Owl City Distribution to get started.

Chiodos Premieres New Song From Upcoming Album

September 1, 2010 By Bryce Jacobson Leave a Comment

Chiodos is premiering their new song “Modern Wolf Hair” at Chiodos.net. The new song is off of their upcoming release, Illuminaudio, due out October 5th.

The song holds extra meaning for the entire band, as the bridge of the song was written with the long-distance assistance of Christopher “Notes” Olsen in California, who passed away in May 2010 and unfortunately was never able to hear the finished song. Bolmer states, “I am thankful to have Notes on this record, and this song is very special to us. This bridge is also the intro we used for our first shows with the new line-up, as well as for the first two tours we did together.”

Also streaming on Chiodos.net is the recently released song, “Those Who Slay Together, Stay Together”. Illuminaudio is available for pre-order on MerchNow.com.

Chiodos will head out on the “Congregation of the Damned” tour this fall with Atreyu, blessthefall, Architects (UK), and Endless Hallway.
