Artist: Jonezetta

Label: Tooth And Nail
Purchase: Smart Punk
Release Date: October 3rd, 2006
Overall: 8.5
Music: 8.8

Iâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ll lay it out for nice and simple; Jonezetta is that smooth talking new student at school that is instantly friends with everyone. You would never know they were the newest band on the Tooth and Nail record label. Jonezetta are not messing around, they take â┚¬Ã…”pop punkâ┚¬?/â┚¬?indie popâ┚¬? and cram a whole lot of energy into every song. The record is infectious and just flat out fun. It should get should get at least a few people dancing.
This record hits hard, like I said Jonezetta are not messing around, they intend to bring the fun, dancey rock music. The first six songs on â┚¬Ã…”Popularityâ┚¬? come in strong and donâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢tâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ let up until you get to â┚¬Ã…”The love that carries meâ┚¬? which, even though slower does not lose the foot tapping drums.
My favorite song on the record would definitely be â┚¬Ã…”Communicateâ┚¬?. It starts out with acoustic, and electric guitars and vocals then having the entire band slide into the mix. The chorus of the song â┚¬Ã…”Isabelle, Isabelle itâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s a long way home, to communicateâ┚¬? is one of the infectious parts I was referring to, It gets in your head and by the end of the song you singing along. The record flows very smoothly into the next song â┚¬Ã…”Man in a 3k suitâ┚¬? which sports [The Killers] reminiscent keys.
I knew Jonezetta was a talented band and that this was a pretty good debut album, but I didnâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢t realize how much I like the record until listening to a few times. I think people will like this after the first listen but I also think they will enjoy it the more they listen to it. This is no doubt worth peopleâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s ten bucks. Please support the band and go out and grab â┚¬Ã…”Popularityâ┚¬?

Break ups seem to always come in groups and today is no different. Transition will disband after their final show but we can expect new projects from some of the members in the future. Read the message from the band below.
It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. – Alan Cohen
This great quote reflects the amazing transformations that have taken place in our lives in the past couple months. This past July things crumbled to our feet in a truly poetic way. It was a beautiful mistake. We had not given anything up, but the uncontrollable things around us, our management, our booking, our tours, had all seemed to fall to pieces. The humbling experience changed all of us. Some of us spiritually, but for others it was just an undeniable lesson but brought us all to our knees.
Weve spent the last couple months thinking through about 3 million scenarios and outcomes to this new challenge, while persistently trying to answer the question, What next? The changes weve experienced and the inspiration weve received is truly amazing. Just within a couple of weeks weve all unanimously decided to completely break-off and pursue our own personal journeys. For us its not a disconsolate realization.
On the contrary, we are all enthusiastic to follow our own dreams individually. The Wednesday meeting was peaceful and fun. It was friends being friends and accepting the intimidating change. We all have exciting new plans that we will keep you posted on through our websites that will remain operating. Some of us have new music projects while others have other goals in mind. Regardless, weve all decided to share these Transition websites to promote and share our new accomplishments.
We do plan on having one last show in Pittsburgh, PA to say good-bye. We will be supporting our pittsburgh-punk mentors, Punchline. It will be on October 28th at Mr. Smalls Theater. Tickets will be going fast so please buy in advance at Music Today! We also will continue to sell our records in stores and also will be opening a new web store on Zambooie.com very soon! Transition is a legacy that has existed since the middle-school talent shows of 1998. It will never die. My father wrote an awesome tribute from his view on things just hours after he heard the news of the break-up. This was humbling and I feel like I should share it with you.
Transition
“There was so much that was good about Transition. The boys, the songs, the music, the harmonies, and the undeniable energy in their electrifying performances. This was a band that created music that moved you from one place to somewhere happier.
We all knew they were destined for greatness. We all had a favorite spot in the world that Transition created for us. We all so wanted to share that with others.
Transition started as a dream in the hearts of a few young boys, and graduated as a national contender in the music industry. From basement rehearsals to jam packed venues across the country. From 4-track demos to masters coming from Capitol Records. From Biringer Music to the Warner Music Group. From promo-photos developed at the drug store to full page magazine layouts. In July of 2006, even Google recognized their presence as the 9th search result that would appear based on a search of transition.
They have taken a journey of which most only dream. They have lived the lives of touring musicians and experienced the demand of autograph seekers.
They reached for the brass ring, and they got it.Even the day after this tale commenced to close, the airwaves of the nationwide digital satellite network Sirius continued to play Excusable on Revolution – the Christian Rock channel. A fitting tribute to the achievement of all that were involved.
The talent that dwells within the heart of Transition will never perish. The light that emits through the music will always be there to shine. As one door closes, another opens. The future is not meant for us to see, but through faith, we can attain what
God wants us to be.”We just want to thank everyone that has helped us in the past and hope that you all will support us and continue to visit us here and follow us through our separate voyages!
Were going to miss it dearly, but as Henri Bergson said,
To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.
This is just the beginning.
-Steven Biringer and Transition

Race The Sun will be calling it a day after their final tour in November. You can read a message from the band below.
I never thought that this would be the final chapter nor the end of the long journey for us, but just like every lifespan out there, Race The Sun has been on life support long enough to know that it..s time to say goodbye and close the eyes. We have been on fire for four years now. Our hearts drenched in ambition fuelled us to become the tour machines we are today. Before anyone gets the wrong idea of what happened, let me tell you in short summary why we made this choice. From the start, we were all best friends, trying to live the dream of writing and sharing the music that moved us just as much as the other. We promised to take this as far as it will go, to make the most of this short life, to prove the impossible to be possible. It is a miracle how far we have come but it..s also heartbreaking to know that this is the end of the road for us. I cannot thank everyone enough for supporting us through all these years. From those who let us crash on their floors, fed us, bought our cds and merch, to the kids who made countless donations when we were broke down without a cent in our name. Our choice doesn’t reflect on how hard the life was but more on the chemistry that has kept this band at full throttle. With Jason and Aaron leaving this time around, a huge chunk was ripped out of the spirit of RTS. We even went through a period of finding new members, but in our hearts we knew it wouldn’t be the same like the last line up. I want to sincerely thank those who believed in us, encouraged us, and watched us grow as a unit over time. You all are what made us who we are today. We learned a great deal of the power of friendship as well as the musicianship. Again it breaks my heart to say a final farewell but we all feel that this is the best time to move on with our lives and keep all the cherished memories preserved. To give closure for everyone, including ourselves, we will be doing one final tour in November right before Thanksgiving; starting in Texas and heading east again, ending in our hometown, Richmond, VA for one final hurrah. There is nothing more that I want then to see friends and family to share this last run before we shut the engine down. I hope to see you all there..and for those of you who never believed in us… FUCK ALL YALL!
Love,
Daniel, James, Jason, and Matt
