Time and Distance – “Gravity”

West Virginia – Summer is just around the bend, and with it comes fresh air, new music and good times had by all. Not Alonerecording artists TIME AND DISTANCE will bring all facets of summer to fruition with the release of their third album Gravity onJuly 14, 2009. With years of experience as a solo artist, Greg McGowan (guitar, vox) has channeled his experience as a singer/songwriter into this trio that has already toured with the likes of Boys Like Girls, Midtown and Hit The Lights.

Produced by Rob Freeman (of Hidden in Plain View), this is the album that Time and Distance have been waiting their entire careers to make. “It was the first time we really took our time writing more songs than we actually needed so that we could pick the best of the best,” explains McGowan, “I’m more stoked on the final product than anything we’ve done before. I couldn’t be happier.”

With piano parts recorded on a laptop in their hotel bathroom and a cigarette pack guitar amp used for some of the guitar tracking, this album largely came together on the spot and is void of the excessive layering that plagues so much of today’s new music. The title track “Gravity” is “kind of a summarization of the record in that it goes through all the different themes of the entire record,” says McGowan, “it is probably my favorite song on the album and it was written entirely in the studio.”

With a new album teaser available at myspace.com/timeanddistance, Time and Distance are ready to continue going with the flow this entire summer and with each step, bring a fresh approach to the music they’re making.

Gravity is available now in select locations — check out their blog to see when you can get your copy!

In the meantime, pre-order it now on SmartPunk!

Senses Fail Announce Future Departure of Guitarist Heath Saraceno

July 1, 2009 By Bryce Jacobson 1 Comment

Senses Fail guitarist Heath Saraceno has announced that he will be leaving the band after their time on this summers Warped Tour. You can read a message from Heath and the band below.

SENSES FAIL announces that guitarist Heath Saraceno will be leaving the band later this summer after the band completes their headlining run on the Smartpunk.com Stage on the Vans Warped Tour. The band is touring in support of their third full-length disc, Life Is Not A Waiting Room (Vagrant, 10/08). Saraceno, previously a guitarist/vocalist in the band Midtown, joined Senses Fail in 2005.

Senses Fail singer Buddy Nielsen made the following statement:
“Unfortunately, we have some said news to report. Our wonderful friend and amazing guitar player, Heath Saraceno, will be leaving Senses Fail after the upcoming Warped Tour. There is no ill will on any either side, Heath has just decided it is his time to leave the music business and pursue a career in another field. I think the longer you do this the harder it becomes to leave home for months and months at a time, devote all your life to just one cause and at some point in a musicians life they must decide if this is for them anymore.”

“We wish Heath the best of luck in all endeavors; he will always be one of our closest and most important friends. As for Senses Fail, we will carry on and we’re already planning a fall headlining tour and then expect to head into the studio. We have no idea who will fill Heath’s (literally) large shoes, but we are on the lookout.”

Heath Saraceno’s statement:
“I’m going to be leaving Senses Fail after this summer’s Warped Tour. I’ve shared many great times with these guys over the past 4 years or so. We’ve made 2 records I’m very proud of, toured the world and the states countless times, and I’ve made friends with people I would not have met otherwise. These guys from Jersey (and Atlanta by way of Florida) have turned into some of my closest friends, and I will miss seeing them as often as I’ve been able to.”

Senses Fail formed seven years ago in Ridgewood, New Jersey and released their debut EP, From the Depths of Dreams, in 2002. 2004’s Let It Enfold You was the group’s first full-length on Vagrant and was followed by Still Searching in 2006. Life Is Not A Waiting Room debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 200 chart when it was released in October 2008. The band has performed multiple worldwide tours and has sold over 1.1 million albums over the span of their career.
